I Juggled Fire!

I juggled torches!

It was intense! The fire creeping down the club, threatening to lash out and bite your arm at every second, and thought of catching the wrong end was terrifying.

No, not really. But now that I have your attention, I can tell you about how I’m getting there.

In the last couple weeks, I met with my mentor twice. It has been a ton of fun! She has a very large collection of over 15 years of juggling equipment, ranging from glowing clubs to medicine-ball-weight juggling balls. Just trying out all of the different equipment has been amazing.

After meeting with her, I have learned that she is a very group-oriented juggler. Her specialty is passing balls/clubs between 2 – 8 people, which if you ask me, is pretty impressive. Over our visits, she has been teaching me how to pass balls between two people, while juggling three balls each. She has also introduced me to juggling clubs, which would be the next step up from simple, spherical balls. I plan to buy my own set of juggling clubs in the nearby future, because learning how to juggle them is quite a challenge!

In terms of my individual work, I have been improving my 4 ball juggling slowly. I can juggle 4 balls under control for up to 15 or 20 seconds, which is quite the improvement. This means I can practice without stopping every second to pick up a ball and start again.

Heading back to my mentor for one quick second, I may have a second mentor to help me out! My current mentor said that she is trying to line me up with her first teacher and mentor, who introduced her with juggling. This would be a great experience, and may even lead to 3 person juggling!

Well, that’s it for all. If you’re wondering about the fire juggling, I’m working on that. Maybe one day, after I learn clubs, I can learn torches too, and maybe even knives, or chainsaws.
